Open Source is People

Accepted Session
Short Form
Scheduled: Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 1:30 – 2:15pm in B302/303

For those who want to do more than just code, this talk will show you 8 ways I have contributed without opening up Vim once.

Years ago I was angry and jealous of developers, because I didn’t have good enough skills to commit code to an open source project.

Then I learned that Open Source isn’t just a commit, a patch or a pull request. It is about bringing people together of all different skill sets, from different backgrounds, different genders and solving problems together.

project management, fundraising, sponsorships, infrastructure, volunteering, documentation

Speaking experience

I have spoken at the following meetups: LA Hacker News, LA DevOps, JavaScript LA

Summits: WordCamp LA

In May 2016 I will be speaking at OSCON. Same subject slightly different talk.
